Each area of learning and development is implemented through planned, purposeful play and through a mix of adult-led and child-initiated activity.
Beyond the classroomThe curriculum is approached in a fun and engaging way through whole school themes and a cross-curricular approach is adopted as much as possible. Some examples of our whole school themes include: Ice and Fire, Built to Last, The Dynamic Earth and Journeys.
The curriculum is enhanced by an extensive programme of trips and visiting speakers and interactive workshops.
Life at FairfieldOngoing assessment is an integral part of the learning and development process.
During your child’s time in EYFS we capture their experiences as well as monitor development and learning through our Electronic Learning Diaries. Each child’s unique journal is shared online with parents, who can see special moments and view their child’s progress. Every entry helps to create a complete story of your child’s time in their Early Years at Fairfield.
Each child’s level of development is assessed against the 17 Early Learning Goals (ELGs) and at the end of Reception the class teacher will indicate whether your child is meeting expected levels of development, through the Early Years Foundation Stage Profile (EYFSP).
The EYFSP results are shared with parents and passed on to the Year 1 teacher.
Meet the teachersAfter completing Reception your child will move on to Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2, providing the strongest foundation before their move to senior school.
